Steve Schermann - Applications Manager
Every machine operator has to start with the basics. Whether you’re new to machining or just new to the Milltronics INSPIRE+ control, this blog entry will help you master one of the most crucial basic tasks: positioning the machine table.
If you prefer videos to checklists, watch the tutorial above.
STEP 1: From the main screen, select “Jog” by pressing the F2 button.
STEP 2: Turn the feed rate override knob located just to the right of the handwheel to set the speed at which the table or spindle will move. Note that you can use this knob to adjust speed at any point, allowing you to shift between quick and fine movements.
STEP 3: Use the keypad that appears on the control’s touchscreen to move the table in the X or Y axes or to move the spindle in the Z axis.
STEP 4: Press the “Escape” button to return to the main screen.
Alternatively, if you prefer moving the table and spindle with the handwheel, you would use the following steps.
STEP 1: From the main screen, select “Handwheel” by pressing the F3 button.
STEP 2: Select which axis you want to control using the three buttons in the bottom left corner of the touchscreen.
STEP 3: As with step #2 in the “Jog” function, use the feed rate override knob to set the speed. With the handwheel, this will define how far an axis will move with each click of the handwheel.
STEP 4: Rotate the handwheel clockwise or counterclockwise to generate movement along the selected axis.
STEP 5: Once you have finished making adjustments, press the “Escape” button to return to the main screen.
It’s just that easy! To perform this task using the remote handwheel, check out our blog post “How to Use Remote Handwheel.”
