How to Power Up and Calibrate Your Milltronics Machine

Steve Schermann - Applications Manager

Just because a task is simple doesn’t mean there isn’t a best way to accomplish it. For a great example of this, let’s take a quick step-by-step look at powering up and calibrating your Milltronics machine with our INSPIRE+ control.

If you prefer videos to checklists, watch the video above.

STEP 1: Turn on the main power switch on the back of your machine.

STEP 2: Wait. As a Windows-based platform, your INSPIRE+ control can take up to two minutes to boot up. This is a great time to grab a cup of coffee.

STEP 3: When you receive the “E-stop Button Activated” message on your screen, release the button by giving it a quarter turn. Note that if your machine is equipped with a remote handwheel and/or chip conveyor, the e-stop buttons on those devices will have to be released as well.

STEP 4: Press the “Enable” button directly above the e-stop button on your control. Note that if you’re used to working on previous generations of Milltronics controls, this button used to be labeled “Reset.”

STEP 4.5: A blue box will pop up to indicate the machine is resetting, followed by a message informing you that the machine is uncalibrated. NEVER move the axes of your machine prior to performing a calibration.

STEP 5: Press the F1 “Home” button, wait for the “Press Cycle Start” message, and then press the green, blinking cycle start button.

STEP 6: Watch to ensure that your Z axis moves up to its home position, followed by your table moving to the home position for the X and Y axes.

At this point, your machine will automatically return to the home screen, and you’re ready to start programming!

Note that there’s no need to set your machine’s home positions again until the next time you’ve cycled its power off and back on.
